Mexican dishes that we love and you should try…

The local food is a unique combination of influences from Europe, Central Mexico and the delicious touch of the Yucatecan style. Now, we don’t want to bore you with elaborate descriptions or try to explain the explosion of flavors in your mouth while you enjoy every bite.

Let’s give you a hint of the Mexican favorites and then you will probably know what to expect…

In our humble opinion, you definitely have to try some of the amazing dishes we present here. So when you spend some time chillin’ in Mexico, don’t forget to ask for this:

Tacos

Tacos are made with soft, corn tortillas that are laid flat and topped with meat or different stews you can pick from, chopped onion, coriander and salsas (sauces with different ingredients in it, but really spicy and good if you like chiles).

Quesadillas

Quesadillas are soft flour tortillas filled with cheese and different stews. They are great for lunch or dinner. (Mexican people love quesadillas for breakfast)

Empanadas

Empanadas are served in different varieties all over the world. Here in Mexico, they are stuffed with cheese and meat of your own choice. The dough is fried and made with nixtamal flour to be served with salty cheese and salsa on top.

Enchiladas

The base of enchiladas is corn tortillas dipped in enchilada sauce, which can be mole, green tomato sauce, etc. then stuffed with chicken or meat, rolled up, placed in a casserole dish, layered with sauce, cheese, and cream and topped with chopped onions or crumbled white cheese.

Michelada

Okay, it isn’t food… its beer. We learn in Mexico that beer is as good as a steak. So if you want to drink a nice different beer style you will need lime, coarse salt, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, Tabasco sauce, black pepper, Maggi seasoning, and (a dark) Mexican beer.

Frijoles Charros

Frijoles Charros is a red bean soup, with ham, sausage, tomatoes and onion. The thing is a little bit spicy but goes perfectly with a cold beer and tortilla chips.

Mole Poblano

This is a sauce made with a lot of ingredients: mulato chiles, pasilla chiles, ancho chiles, Mexican chocolate, garlic, black pepper, cinnamon, raisins, cloves, peppercorns, almonds, anise seeds, coriander seeds, pumpkin seeds and sesame seeds. The sauce is served over chicken or pork. It can be really spicy, it depends on the chiles. We also recommend a beer to compliment your perfect Mexican meal.

Guacamole

We think you probably know guacamole already, it’s mostly served with tortilla chips. If you want to make your own guacamole you will need: avocados (very yummy ones), chopped onion, coriander, salt, lime juice and chopped tomato. You can use the onions and tomatoes if you want, the good thing about guacamole is that you can always create a twist of the classic version. And again… you will need a cold beer with a touch of lime to enjoy the amazing avocado flavor.

So you know the whole truth… Mexican beer is the perfect beverage to accomplish your meals and well, hope you can try at least one of this delicious dishes.
