Arrival to the imposing Mexico City, the cradle of the ancient Aztec empire and one of the largest cities in the world, guarded by the two beautiful volcanoes: Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl. You will be received by your professional naturalist guide, who will give you essential information about the tour and the activities that will be part of the trip. Transfer to the Majestic hotel. There you can get comfortable and prepare for the next day, which will begin with our safety talk and information that is very important for the tour.
At the beginning of the day, you will visit the Museum of Anthropology and History, one of the best and most extensive archaeological museums in the world, an enclosure that houses a vast collection of artifacts in 23 magnificent exhibition halls. His most famous piece is the stone of the Aztec sun, carved in a huge monolith that had the function of a cosmological calendar. We know that a few hours are not enough in the Museum, but we must continue the adventure to Valle de Bravo, a magical town surrounded by mountains and thick forests; a destination that is considered a jewel due to its excellent hotels, restaurants, equestrian club, golf courses, etc. The registration will be in the “Mesón de las Leyendas” a beautiful hotel with large gardens that formerly served as Posada, Convent and finally as home to different artists of the Valley.
This day we will visit the Piedra Herrada Sanctuary, located on the slopes of the Nevado de Toluca mount (22 kilometers southwest from Toluca city), surrounded by high and imposing mountains that exceed 3 thousand meters above sea level, making it the perfect place for Monarch Butterflies. To begin the adventure, we will ride beautiful horses that will take us most of the way; Later we will walk enjoying the vegetation and nature around us until we reach the fantastic place where the butterflies are. The Sanctuary is quite removed from urban areas, which will allow you to be surrounded by these wonderful winged creatures in the heart of the mountain. Be part of the ecotourism movement in Mexico, respecting nature and learning about Sustainability. After a day full of magic and adventure, we will spend the night at the hotel “Mesón de las Leyendas”.
Today we will visit the Capulín Sanctuary, nestled in a semi-flat valley known as The Three Governors – located at 80 km. west of the city of Toluca-, where you can see the largest and most beautiful colony in the monarch region. Thanks to its location, the place offers beautiful views of the forested mountains and a huge diversity of flora and fauna, ideal for nature lovers. The journey to the sanctuary will be traveled on a hike to Cerro Pelón, where we will arrive at the place chosen by the butterfly to hibernate from November to March. After a day full of nature, we return to the hotel “Mesón de las Leyendas” to recover and be ready for the next day.
Free day to enjoy the area of Valle de Bravo. Declared “Magic Town” by the Mexican government in 2005, Valle de Bravo is a beautiful town with cobbled streets and adobe houses with red tiles, which offers the traveler beautiful restaurants and typical craft shops. Walking through its alleys is a rewarding experience, with the view of the lake and its wooded mountains. The valley offers all kinds of activities: boat rides, yachts or jet skis, motorcycling, paragliding or hang gliding, horse riding, painting exhibitions, international film shows, and culinary festivals. Let yourself be surprised by what this beautiful town has for you. Tonight we will rest at the Mesón de las Leyendas hotel and prepare for the return to Mexico City.
Take your time to relax during the morning and say goodbye to the beautiful Valle de Bravo. In the afternoon we return to Mexico City to check-in at the Majestic hotel and rest before returning home.
Transfer to the airport to take the flight that will take you back home.
