Day 1: Arrival at Cancun Airport
We will pick you up at the international airport of Cancun. A Transfer to Puerto Morelos will be provided at arrival! We will take you to your accommodation where you will stay the night at: the Ojo de Agua hotel (or similar).
Day 2: Puerto Morelos
You will join a lecture on coral reefs and after, you will snorkel in the national marine park of Puerto Morelos. Another lecture on the Mayan jungle will be given and afterward, you will visit the Botanical Garden to hike and enjoy learning about the plants and animals of the Maya jungle. A transfer to the world heritage site of Sian Ka’an will be provided! After arrival, we will check in at the hotel.
Day 3: Sian Ka´an
You will follow a lecture on the world heritage site of Sian ka’an! After that you will go on a boat trip through the wetlands and hike in the jungle. Maybe you will encounter some nice wild life (like jaguars and monkeys!)
Day 4: Kohunlich
We will take you to the world heritage site of Calakmul. On the way, we wiil stop at the archaeological site in Kohunlich. Kohunlich, is the name of a Mayan city and ceremonial center, located about 65 kilometers from Chetumal, Quintana Roo, in the Río Bec region, very close to the border between Mexico and Belize. After visiting this Mayan city, we will go to your hotel. Here you will have a lecture on bats. Afterward, we will bring you to encounter those bats in real life! Enjoy watching more than 25 million bats close to Calakmul. At night, you will join a lecture on the world heritage site of Calakmul.
Day 5: Calakmul
Today we will visit the amazing Calakmul site learning about the Maya jungle and some unique wildlife that is living in this area. We will bring you to the world heritage site of Campeche and sightseeing tour through the colonial city. After the sightseeing tour, we will go to the hotel and join a lecture on colonial cities.
Day 6: Merida
We will bring you to the world heritage site of Merida. Merida is a former colonial city. Here, we go on a city sightseeing tour to visit the cathedral, the government palace, murals, the market, and much more. Afterwards, we will go to your hotel: del Gobernador hotel.
Day 7: Rio Lagartos
On our last day, we will visit the amazing archaeological site Chichen Itza! Followed by a visit to the world heritage site Río Lagartos. Enjoy a great day of bird watching (flamingos, pelicans, cormorants, egrets, herons, etc). At the end of the day, we will return to Cancun…..This will be the end of this tour.
